MOLES/ SKIN TAGS REMOVAL

TEMPSURE Radiofrequency technology is at the cutting edge of cosmetic mole and skin tag removal. There is minimal downtime, safety is assured, and there is minimal aftercare required.

This revolutionary technology means you longer need to live with unsightly moles. Unlike laser treatments, moles and skin tags are removed in one appointment. More impressively, these moles/skin tags can be removed without a surgical scar! There is no need for scalpels or stitches. This technology can be used on all body parts including the face.

While several common skin conditions may be benign (non-cancerous), including moles, freckles, skin tags, benign lentigines and seborrheic keratoses, they can still make people feel self-conscious or unattractive. Dr. Swapna Masurkar routinely performs mole removal and removal of skin tags at Ensoul Aesthetics & Wellness.

How Moles develop?

Cells called melanocytes producte melanin, which gives skin its color or pigment. Normally, these cells disperse evenly throughout the skin. When these cells grow together in a mass, moles develop.

Mole Growth

Moles grow anywhere on the skin as either single growths or grouped together. They typically appear brown or black and usually number anywhere from 10 to 40. Moles usually begin appearing during childhood, with additional moles developing into a person’s 30s and few developing beyond the 30s. Some moles change slowly over the years, either changing in color, becoming elevated, growing hair, or even disappearing. Factors related to pregnancy, puberty and sun exposure can affect moles, causing them to darken, for instance.

Skin Tags

Skin tags occur as small flaps of hanging tissue, usually on the neck, chest or back, beneath the breasts or underarms or in the groin. They can develop in anyone, but they are most common in women and seniors. They are harmless and typically painless, but they can be irritated by rubbing clothing, drying with a towel, or wearing a necklace.

FAQS

  • How do I know whether my mole is benign?

While it is true that some moles can be cancerous, many are benign. If you have noticed the development of a new mole, or you have observed changes in an existing mole’s colour, size, or shape, Dr. Masurkar will perform a biopsy to evaluate the mole. If it is found to be benign, you may proceed with the treatment.

  • Is there any downtime associated with these procedures?

Removal of moles and skin tags is a very minor, minimally invasive procedure that usually does not require any rest at home afterward. In most cases, patients may return to normal activities immediately after their office visit, closely following Dr. Masurkar’s aftercare instructions.

  • How can I prevent additional moles from developing?

Although some people are simply more prone to moles than others, the most important thing you can do to stave them off is protect yourself from the sun. Dr. Masurkar urges her mole removal patients in Calgary to get into the habit of applying a broad-spectrum sunblock each day to any exposed skin, even if it is raining or overcast outside. Wear long sleeves when it is comfortable to do so, and, when possible, stay indoors during the afternoon, when the sun is at its peak. In addition to preventing moles, practicing good sun protection habits can prevent premature aging and wrinkles, too.
